Beagles of New England States (B.O.N.E.S.) was founded in June of 2003 with a mission to rescue, rehome, spay/neuter, and provide necessary medical care to beagles in need in the New England area. We endeavor to improve the quality of life for beagles in New England through outreach and education programs. 1,650 beagles have found their forever homes through B.O.N.E.S. From its beginnings in 2003, B.O.N.E.S. has been committed to sharing with potential adopters the special pleasures of welcoming an older adult beagle to their household. Usually well-socialized, house trained, past the chewing stage, accustomed to leisurely neighborhood leash walks as well as playtimes in their yard or special adventures like hikes or lake kayaking, and ready and eager to bond with their human family members, older adult beagles make wonderful companions. In 2019, B.O.N.E.S. received a generous grant from the Grey Muzzle Organization, which advocates nationally for the wellbeing of older adult dogs of all breeds. As part of our effort to encourage the adoption of older adult beagles, we produced a video, "Sensational Seniors", featuring older adopted beagles. All the dogs shown in the video are over the age of 10. Some were adopted when they were older adults, usually between the ages of 7 and 9, and have entered their true senior years as much-loved members of their adoptive families. Others featured in the video are supported by our special "Sensational Senior Beagles" program, a subsidized adoption program available for dogs who first come to B.O.N.E.S. at age 10 or beyond. B.O.N.E.S. has been hard at work since 2003 helping as many beagles as possible that are surrendered to us. This year has been exceptionally challenging financially, with numerous dogs needing extensive medical and behavioral help before they're ready for adoption. And the costs of medical care and supplies continue to rise, adding to the challenges we face. But we've had success stories as well. A very creative and talented B.O.N.E.S supporter came forward and offered to make these for us. They are all handmade and of the highest quality material. The outer layer of the masks are made of either 100% combed cotton ("Beagle in Blue") or 100% natural cotton ("Beagle Pups at Play"). Both masks have a 100% cotton inner lining, non-latex elastic ear loops with adjustor beads, and a reinforced metal nose wire. Two sizes are available: Adult (8" x 5") or Child (7" x 4/75") - the height is from the bottom to the nose wire. Each mask is $11, which includes postage and handling.
